Two Earth Day Projects You can Use All Year
The goal of Earth Day is to celebrate our planet. Ideally, every day should be Earth Day! But modern society is often out of step with nature. So we need to remind ourselves to appreciate our natural world.
I want to share two simple projects you can make on Earth Day. You can use them outdoors all year long as a practical reminder to help protect the wild places. They’re simple to make and easy to use. Enjoy!
The Bottle Bag
The bottle-bag is a free, waterproof, watertight, airtight, resealable plastic bag. The idea is to use plastic bags we get for fee and turn them into “ziplock-type” containers. It’s simple and easy to make. Yet it’s a valuable piece of equipment. I use mine when removing litter from trails, transporting trash in my backpack, and when collecting wild edibles. Try making one for yourself.
The Food Filter
Keep your camp kitchen clean using this compact food filter. It rolls-up for easy storage in your cooking pot. The filter helps keep critters away from camp and minimizes your “human footprint” on the land.
