If you spend any time reading the bushcraft forum, BushcraftUK, then you’ve read articles by John Fenna. John is an outdoor instructor and author who often posts on the forum.
Here’s a link to an article he wrote that teaches you how to make tongs out of a branch of hazel, or other similar pliable wood. All you need for this project is your bushcraft knife, a small saw, and a branch of pliable green wood.
It’s a great project to sharpen your knife skills (pun intended). And it can come in handy if you find yourself on a backpack trip without cooking utensils. Just be sure to select a branch from a species that is not toxic.
